GLIAC Champion Ferris State Closes Regular Season With Decisive Road Win

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis squad, which is ranked 21st nationally, closed out Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) regular season action on a winning note and unbeaten in league play as FSU pulled out a 9-0 triumph on the road at Purdue Northwest on Friday (April 13).

The Bulldogs, who had already captured their fourth-straight GLIAC Regular Season crown this year, finished league action a perfect 8-0 while moving to 18-2 on the year with the win.

The victory as FSU's 15th-straight this season and gives FSU the number one seed for the GLIAC Tournament next week.

FSU won all three doubles matches, including a pair of decisive wins by 8-1 and 8-0 scores at the first and third flights, respectively, in building the early advantage.

Ferris State then completed the sweep by taking all six singles positions with five determined in straight-sets along with a three-set triumph at three singles.

The match was the first-ever against the Pride, who are in their first season in the GLIAC. It took place at the Match Point Tennis and Fitness Club in Griffith, Ind.

Ferris State will take part in the GLIAC Tournament set for Friday thru Sunday, April 20-22, in Midland.
