Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis squad capped off a sweep of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Regular Season and Tournament Championships for the third-straight year as the Bulldogs claimed their third consecutive league tourney title with a decisive 5-0 triumph over Wayne State on Sunday (April 22) in Midland.

The top-seeded Bulldogs, who are ranked 20th in the country, won their 17th consecutive match by beating the Warriors in the league's postseason tournament championship showdown at the Greater Midland Community Tennis Center.

With Sunday's win, Ferris State has won captured four-straight GLIAC Regular Season Championships and three-straight GLIAC Tournament titles.

Two years ago, FSU had won both the GLIAC's regular-season and tournament titles in the same season for the first time since 1994 when the tourney was structured in an individual-based format and not the current team dual format. This year, the Bulldogs duplicated the feat for the third-straight season with Sunday's win.

In Sunday's title match against the second-seeded Warriors, FSU took a 3-0 lead following doubles play with wins at all three flights in the lineup.

FSU then owned the singles round by taking the first two completed flights in straight-sets. Pablo Munoz Baroja was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at five singles and Mathis Guerre captured the sixth spot by a 6-4, 7-6 (2) score.

The Bulldogs improved to 20-2 overall this season with the win and it was FSU's second over the Warriors this year after beating WSU in a close 5-4 match during league regular-season play.

This year's league tournament title is the Bulldogs' fourth in the past seven years.

Previously this year, FSU officially had claimed its fourth-straight league regular-season crown by finishing GLIAC play with a perfect 8-0 record.

The Bulldogs, who were the number three team in the Midwest Region last week and have reached the D2 Final Eight each of the past two years, now await the NCAA Division II men's tennis selection show set for Tuesday, April 24, at 8:30 p.m. (ET) with a live stream of the selection show available at NCAA.com.

During the GLIAC Tournament, the conference's postseason awards were announced with FSU juniors Steward Sell and Nur Adim Iswan earning first-team laurels. Senior Daniil Tarantinov and Baroja were All-GLIAC Second Team picks with Austin DeBruyne garnering honorable mention accolades.
