Bulldog Men's Tennis Opens Fall Slate At Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawk Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis squad got its 2018-19 season underway as the Bulldogs competed in the Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawk Fall Invitational on Friday and Saturday (Sept. 7-8) in Whitewater, Wis.

The event took place at the Wangerin Courts in Whitewater as the Bulldogs took part in the yearly individual-based event.

FSU's Nur Adim Ramdani Iswan competed at the number one singles flight and went 2-1 overall, winning the consolation finals in straight-sets.

The Bulldogs' Mathis Guerre played at two singles in the bracket format and finished with a 1-2 mark, dropping the third place match in the tournament.

Meanwhile, at three singles, newcomer Ayush Deswal registered a 2-1 record and claimed the consolation finals title. He finished the event with back-to-back wins after dropping a close three-setter in the first round.

Another newcomer, Cedric Rupa, played a four singles and finished 1-2 with a setback in the third-place match.

In doubles play, the tandem of Iswan and Guerre went 2-1 overall and reached the championship match before falling by an 8-6 score.

Finally, Deswal and Rupa teamed up at the number two doubles flight and claimed third place overall with a 2-1 record.

The Bulldogs are next slated to compete in the 2018 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Fall Regional Championships set for Sept. 28-30 in Grand Rapids.
