Ferris State Doubles Tandem Reaches Finals At ITA Regional Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis team competed over the weekend in the 2018 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships hosted by Davenport University in Grand Rapids.

In the "A" doubles main draw, FSU's pairing of Nur Adim Ramdani Iswan & Mattis Guerre won their first four matches and reached the championship round before falling in the finals by a tight 6-0, 5-7, 7-5 score, coming up only a couple points short of reaching the National Small College Championships in Arizona. They finished 4-1 overall.

In the "A" singles draw, FSU's Ayush Deswal dropped his opening match before going 1-1 in the consolation draw after earning a bye.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs' Guerre and Iswan both posted identical 1-1 marks in the "A" singles draw.

In the "B" singles draw, newcomer Cedric Rupa received a bye and then went 1-1 overall. FSU's Jack Seymour suffered a loss in his opening match and then went 1-1 in then consolation draw

The pairing of Deswal and Rupa went 1-1 in doubles "A" action.

The event marked the end of the fall competitive campaign for the Bulldogs, who will begin spring action in February starting with a non-league home match versus Cornerstone University of Feb. 2 at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.
