Bulldogs Fall To Wayne State In GLIAC Men's Tennis Showdown For First Place

Big Rapids, Mich. - Visiting Wayne State stayed on top of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) standings as the Warriors pulled out a 6-1 triumph over Ferris State in men's tennis action on Sunday (April 7) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.

The Bulldogs trailed Wayne State by only a single match in the league standings entering the tilt and could have forged a tie atop the GLIAC, but Wayne State proved to be too strong as the Warriors earned the win.

Wayne State jumped in front early by taking all three doubles flights and the Warriors then managed to claim five of six singles spots to garner the triumph.

Ferris State's lone win came from Pablo Munoz Baroja at three singles where he was victorious by a 7-6, 2-6, 12-10 count.

With the setback, the Bulldogs fell to 6-10 overall and 4-2 in the GLIAC.

Wayne State improved to 15-3 overall and stayed unbeaten at 5-0 in conference play with the win.

The Bulldogs will play their final two regular-season matches at home next weekend as FSU hosts Purdue Northwest on Friday (April 12) starting at 6 p.m. (ET) before entertaining Davenport on Saturday (April 13) at 10 a.m. (ET) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.
