Four Ferris State Men's Tennis Standouts Earn All-GLIAC Recognition

Big Rapids, Mich. - Four members of the Ferris State University men's tennis squad were recognized this past weekend as All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) selections as the Bulldogs advanced to the league championship match for the fifth consecutive campaign.

Ferris State had a GLIAC best three first-team all-conference selections in seniors Steward Sell (Kalamazoo) and Nur Adim Ramdani Iswan (Makassar, Indonesia) along with junior Pablo Munoz Baroja (San Sebastian, Spain).

In addition, Bulldog sophomore Mathis Guerre (Aix en Provence, France) claimed All-GLIAC honorable mention accolades for the 2019 season.

This year represents the fourth consecutive year in which both Sell and Iswan have claimed all-conference honors. Sell is now a three-time All-GLIAC First Team choice while Iswan claimed first-team recognition for the second consecutive year.

Meanwhile, Baroja also garnered All-GLIAC laurels for the second year in a row and made the first team for the first time in his collegiate career. Guerre claimed all-conference kudos for the first time as a collegian.

Voting for the all-conference awards was done by the league's member head coaches.

This past weekend, the Bulldogs beat Ashland 4-3 in quarterfinal-round play at the GLIAC Tournament on Friday night before knocking off second-seeded rival Grand Valley State 4-2 in Saturday's semifinals to reach the title round under interim head coach Mark Doren.

Ferris State, which was ranked seventh in the most recent NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings, will now await the official selections for the NCAA Tournament, which will not be announced until Tuesday, May 7, at 8:30 p.m. (ET) at NCAA.com. FSU is expected to receive the program's 23rd all-time national tournament berth.
