Men's Tennis Tops Tiffin For First Win Of Year In Home Opener

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis squad earned its first win of the year as the Bulldogs posted a 5-2 victory over the Tiffin Dragons in their home opener on Friday (Feb. 12) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids.

The Bulldogs started quickly by taking all three doubles flights for the first point of the contest and then captured four of the six singles flights en route to the win.

FSU, which improved to 1-2 overall with both previous setbacks coming to NCAA Division I Western Michigan, garnered the regional triumph over the Dragons in the Bulldogs' first home match this season.

The three doubles matches were all won by 6-3 or 6-4 scores and the four singles wins for FSU included three in straight-sets along with a three-set triumph by Benjamin Lortie at the fourth spot in the lineup.

In addition to Lortie, the Bulldogs got singles wins from Jan Koupil at two singles, Yannic Alexander Mader at the third flight and Josh McDermott at five singles.

Koupil, Lortie, McDermott and Made were all double winners on the day with Mathis Guerre and Ayush Deswal both earning a win in doubles action.

Ferris State's previously scheduled home match set for Saturday (Feb. 13) against Indiana Wesleyan has been cancelled.

With the change, the Bulldogs are next slated to host Walsh University in another non-league regional tilt on Friday, Feb. 19, starting at 2:30 p.m. (ET) in Big Rapids.
