Ferris State Tennis Teams Ranked Among Region's Best In Advance Of NCAA Tourney Selection Show

Big Rapids, Mich. - Both the Ferris State University men's and women's tennis programs are ranked among the region's best in the final NCAA Division II Tennis Rankings that were announced this past week.

The Bulldog men's squad was tabbed second overall in the region while the women's team claimed the number three spot overall.

On the men's side, Indianapolis held down the top spot with FSU second, Hillsdale third, Southwest Baptist fourth and Drury (Mo.) fifth overall of the seven teams listed. Illinois-Springfield earned the sixth spot with Tiffin seventh in the listing.

In the women's regional rankings, the top position was again held by Indianapolis followed by Southwest Baptist, FSU, Grand Valley State and Hillsdale in the top five. Tiffin earned the sixth spot, which was the final team listed in the women's rankings.

The NCAA Division II Tennis Championship selections will be announced on Tuesday (May 4) evening starting with the men's selection show at 8 p.m. (ET) and the women's show at 8:30 p.m. (ET) at NCAA.com.

Both the Ferris State men's and women's teams captured the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Regular-Season and Tournament Championships this spring. The Bulldog men are currently 15-0 overall while the women's team holds a 16-1 mark and has won its last 16 matches in a row overall.

The NCAA Division II Midwest Regional takes places this Saturday thru Monday, May 8-10, in Midland.
