Ferris State Men's Tennis Earns 25th All-Time NCAA Division II Tournament Berth

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis squad earned its seventh consecutive NCAA Tournament berth as the official selections were announced on Tuesday evening in a live online selection show by the NCAA.

Ferris State, which will be making its 25th all-time national tournament appearance, is the number five overall seed for the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional and will face fourth-seeded rival Grand Valley State in regional semifinal action in Detroit on Monday (May 9).

Top-seeded Wayne State University will serve as the host for one of two NCAA D2 Midwest Regionals, which will take place on Monday and Tuesday, May 9-10. A total of eight teams were selected in the Midwest Region with four teams competing in each four-team preliminary regional event to be hosted by Wayne State and the University of Indianapolis.

Official match times and additional information will be announced soon.

Overall, a total of 48 teams were chosen from across the country as determined by the NCAA Division II National Committee. Preliminary rounds will be played early next week at 16 various regional sites. The winner of each men's regional tournament will then advance to the NCAA Division II Championships and the Sweet Sixteen slated to take place May 18-22 in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

The Bulldog men are currently 15-4 overall this year and placed second overall in the GLIAC during regular-season play. FSU and GVSU split two matches this season with the Bulldogs winning the regular-season tilt before the Lakers responded with a close decision in the league tournament semifinals this past Saturday in Midland.

The Ferris State men's tennis squad will be making its 25th all-time NCAA Division II Tournament appearance, including its seventh-straight berth.
