Bulldog Tennis Squads Garner Regional Home Split Against Lewis

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University's men's and women's tennis teams continued regional play on Saturday (Feb. 24), posting a non-league split against visiting Lewis (Ill.) inside the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.

The Bulldog women fell 5-2 to the Flyers in the opener before the men's squad answered with a 7-0 sweep over Lewis in Big Rapids.

With the win, the Bulldog men improved to 4-1 overall this year and the win came on the heels of an identical 7-0 triumph over Grace (Ind.) on Friday afternoon. FSU is also now 3-0 at home this year.

The Bulldogs swept the doubles round in posting their fourth consecutive win as FSU took all three doubles flights, scoring wins of 7-5, 7-6 and 6-3 from the first to the third flights in the lineup, respectively.

In singles play, the Bulldogs captured all six flights in straight-sets with the closest match coming 7-6, 64 at one singles.

On the women's side, Lewis won the top two doubles positions to grab the opening point of the contest and then took four of the six singles flights. A total of three of the singles matches were determined in three sets.

The Bulldogs got singles wins from Ana Sofia Hernandez Ferrer at one singles and from Maria Fernanda Hernandez Ferrer at three singles.

Ferris State will host Hillsdale to close out the weekend homestead on Sunday (Feb. 25) with the women hitting the court first at 11 a.m. (ET) followed by the men at 3 p.m. (ET).
