Ferris State Tennis Teams Come Up Short At Flagler In Florida Action

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's tennis teams suffered a pair of non-conference setbacks on Tuesday (March 5) against Flagler College in Florida on the two teams' annual spring break trip.

The two matches took place at the Pollard Tennis Center in St. Augustine.

The Bulldog women fell 5-2 while the men's team suffered a 5-1 setback against Flagler, which entered the match ranked third in the country.

In the women's contest, the Bulldogs dropped the doubles point but came away with two wins in singles play as Kennedy Dumas picked up a victory at four singles and Parker Nolan won by retirement at six singles.

Meanwhile, in the men's match, the nation's 20th-ranked Bulldogs got a win from Alessandro Santangelo at five singles for its lone point of the match. Three matches went to third sets in singles play and both of Flagler's top two competitors were ranked among the nation's top seven individually in singles action.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Thursday, taking on another top national team in Saint Leo (Fla.) starting at 3 p.m. (ET). FSU then closes its trip with a neutral site regional matchup against Rockhurst (Mo.) on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m. (ET).
