FSU Track & Field Award Winners Named
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's track and field program has recognized six different student-athletes as team award honorees for the 2009-10 athletics season. The announcement was made today (June 15) by second-year head coach Steve Picucci.
Included among the six team award honorees were both three male
and female recipients. The track and field program presented both a
Most Valuable Performer Award for the respective events on the
track and in the field along with a Bulldog Award for both the men
and women.
Freshman Alyssa Osika claimed team MVP Award
laurels in the track/running events for the Bulldog women's team
with senior Emily Cross earning the same
recognition in the field events area. The women's Bulldog
Award was presented to freshman Shelby Janutol for
her efforts this campaign.
Meanwhile, the men's track MVP honor went to sophomore
Justin Price while senior Greg
Burns captured the same recognition in the field events.
Finally, the men's Bulldog Award was given to senior Mike
Mangieri.
The Ferris State women's outdoor track and field team placed
seventh while the men's squad was 10th in the 2010 Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Outdoor Championships
(May 5-7) at FSU's Top Taggart Field in Big Rapids. The women's
squad finished sixth and the men's team was eighth overall in the
GLIAC Indoor Championships (Feb. 26-27) this year at Allendale,
Mich.
The Bulldogs had one All-American this past campaign as Burns
placed sixth overall in the pole vault (16-3.25) at the 2010 NCAA
Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships, which were held
on March 12-13 in Albuquerque, N.M.
