FSU Women Sixth, Men Eighth At GLIAC Indoor
The Ferris State University women's indoor track and field team
took sixth place while the men's team wound up eighth at the 2010
Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC)
Championships held Friday and Saturday (Feb. 26-27) at the Laker
Turf Building in Allendale, Mich.
The Bulldog women netted 19 points while the men's team tallied 25
points in the overall team race. Grand Valley State captured both
the men's and women's titles.
FSU had an individual conference champion in senior men's pole
vaulter Greg Burns, who finished with an effort of
4.96 meters (16-3.25). His performance topped the national
qualifying mark and set a new school indoor record.
Senior Mike Mangieri earned runner-up honors for
FSU in the 3,000 meters (8:35.53) and came in seventh in the 5,000
meters (14:47.78).
Meanwhile, Justin Price placed fourth overall in
the 400 meters (49.03) for the FSU men.
The Bulldog women were paced by freshman Anna
Rudd, who took fourth place in the 5,000 meters (17:40.71)
and came in fifth in the 3,000 meters (10:14.91). Her time in the
5,000 meters surpassed the national provisional qualifying
standard.
Freshman Alyssa Osika took sixth place in the
mile run (5:02.29) with a national provisional qualifying time.
Emily Cross was sixth in both the high jump
(5-3.75) and the 60-meter hurdles (9.03) while freshman
Shelby Janutol wound up eighth in the mile
(5:10.53) for Ferris State.
The NCAA-II Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held
March 12-13 in Albuquerque, N.M.
