FSU Track Opens Second Semester Action

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field teams kicked off second semester action by taking part in the Bob Eubanks Open hosted by Grand Valley State University on Friday (Jan. 14) evening inside the Laker Turf Building at Allendale, Mich.

The Bulldogs were one of a number of teams taking part in the non-scoring competition as the field also included student-athletes from schools across the region such as FSU, GVSU, Eastern Michigan, St. Joseph's (Ind.), Calvin, Valparaiso, Bethel (Ind.) and others.  Selected Ferris competitors saw action in the event.

Sophomore Anna Rudd placed fifth in the 3,000 meters (10:26.12) for the Bulldog women.  Meanwhile, newcomer Jessica Pilling was fifth in the weight throw (53-9.25) and reached a NCAA Division II National Provisional qualification mark in the process.

FSU sophomore Alyssa Osika took sixth place in the women's mile run (5:13.27).  Three others placed seventh in the women's competition for the Bulldogs.

On the men's side, FSU's Ryan Chute captured fifth place in the 3,000 meters (8:54.23) and senior Justin Price was seventh overall for the Bulldog men in the 400 meters (50.34).

The Bulldogs will be back in action when they return to Allendale for the Mike Lints Laker Open hosted again by Grand Valley State on Friday, Jan. 21, at the Laker Turf Building.
