FSU To Compete In GLIAC Track Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams will compete in the 2011 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships this week in Midland, Mich.

The annual league outdoor meet will take place Wednesday to Friday (May 4-6) on Fisher Track located at Hantz Stadium in Midland.  The meet will be hosted by Northwood University.

Action gets underway on Wednesday with the multi-events, including the heptathlon and decathlon.

The full portion of the meet starts on Thursday at 2 p.m. (ET) and runs until nearly 8 p.m. (ET) the same evening.  Friday's final day of competition is scheduled for a 10:30 a.m. (ET) start with the post-meet awards ceremony tentatively slated to be held at the conclusion of the meet around 5 p.m. (ET).

General admission tickets for Thursday and Friday are $5 per day with kids ages 12 and under admitted free of charge.

FSU's Zoey Hohmann is seeded third overall on the final performance list in both the 200 and 400 meters.  Sophomore Anna Rudd is third heading into the meet in the 10,000 meters.  Junior Amy Joostberns is among the top throwers slated to compete in the discus as she ranks fourth overall while freshman Jessica Pilling is listed fifth in the hammer throw.

On the men's side, freshman Michael Schulte is FSU's highest-ranked competitor going into the meet as he is sixth in the 10,000 meters.  Sophomore Ryan Chute is ranked seventh of 50 runners in the 1,500 meters.
