FSU Finishes Action At GVSU "Big Meet"

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University track and field squads concluded competition in the Grand Valley State "Big Meet" with final day action on Saturday (Feb. 11) at the Kelly Family Sports Center in Allendale.

The annual two-day meet featured over 50 schools and nearly 1,800 entries.

Bulldog junior Alyssa Osika finished third in the open division of the women's 800 meters (2:14.64) to lead FSU in Saturday's action.

Freshman Shea Van Klompenberg came in seventh in the 400 meters (58.97).  Junior Zoey Hohmann placed ninth in the 200 meters (25.68) while junior Shelby Janutol took ninth place in the 800 meters (2:17.74).

Ferris State was also seventh in the women's 4x400-meter relay (4:01.81) on Saturday.

In the men's competition, FSU senior Justin Price captured 10th place in Saturday's open 400 meters (50.11).  Meanwhile, freshman David Jimpkoski placed ninth in the weight throw (53-10.50).

Freshman Spencer Gerber came in 11th in the men's open mile run (4:20.54) on Saturday.

The Bulldog men were also eighth in the distance medley relay (10:18.29).

Ferris State is next slated to compete in the Grand Valley State Open on Friday (Feb. 17) in Allendale.
