Women 9th, Men 11th At GLIAC Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field teams wrapped up action in the 2012 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships on Saturday (Feb. 25) in Findlay, Ohio.

The Bulldog women came in ninth overall of 11 teams with 32 points in the team race while the men's squad placed 11th in the field.

The two-day league championships were hosted by the University of Findlay and held at the Malcom Athletic Center on campus.

Bulldog junior Zoey Hohmann won the 400 meters (57.23) while reaching the national provisional qualification mark and took sixth place in the 200 meters (25.80).

Senior Tina Muir placed second overall in the 3,000 meters (9:36.72).

Sophomore Brittany Anderson came in fourth overall in the 5,000 meters (17:42.07).
FSU also placed third overall in the women's distance medley relay (11:48.65), which also reached a national provisional qualification time.

On the men's side, junior Ryan Chute narrowly missed scoring position as he was ninth in the mile run (4:17.17) while sophomore David Silversmith wound up 10th in the 5,000 meters (15:25.42).

Freshman Spencer Gerber came in 11th in the 3,000 meters (8:48.66) and senior Justin Price took 13th place in the 400 meters (50.79).

In the throws, Bulldog freshman David Jimpkoski was 10th in the weight throw (53-9.25) while junior Lucas Johnson took 11th place in the same event (53-3).

Grand Valley State claimed both the women's and men's crowns with 203.75 and 150.50 points, respectively.
