Bulldogs Post Four National-Qualifying Marks At Mike Lints Laker Open

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field teams returned to action on Friday (Jan. 18) night at the Mike Lints Laker Open hosted by Grand Valley State at the Kelly Family Sports Center in Allendale.

The non-scoring meet included student-athletes from schools across the region such as FSU, GVSU, Aquinas, Northwood, Valparaiso and more.

Overall, the Bulldogs had four national-qualifying performances.

FSU senior Anna Rudd picked up right where she left off a week ago as she won the women's 3,000 meters in a national provisional qualification time of 9:43.05.

Sophmore Shea Van Klompenberg took fourth place in the 800 meters (2:20.11).

Junior Jessica Pilling came in fifth overall in the weight throw (55-00.75), which also surpassed the national provisional standard.

Junior Samantha Johnson finished seventh in the 3,000 meters while also reaching the national provisional standard with a time of 10:03.51.

Connor LaRowe was sixth for the Bulldog men in the 800 meters (1:58.24).  Junior Alex Bladecki came in sixth in the mile (4:20.50) with junior Bill King taking eighth place in the same event (4:23.40).

Senior Ryan Chute was seventh in the 3,000 meters (8:24.66), but also topped the national provisional standard.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Friday, Jan. 25, at The Cardinal Open hosted by Saginaw Valley State in University Center, Mich.
