Bulldogs Take Part In One Of Nation's Largest Indoor Meets

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's track and field teams took part in the Grand Valley State "Big Meet" on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 8-9) in Allendale, Mich.

The GVSU Big Meet is annually one of the largest indoor meets in the country and featured 2,465 entries registered from all levels of collegiate athletics and different clubs from around the country.  It took place inside the Kelly Family Sports Center on the GVSU campus and involved more than 85 schools and topped 1,700 athletes.

FSU's Anna Rudd took fifth place in the women's 5,000 meters (16:48.19) while reaching an NCAA Division II national provisional qualification time.

Meanwhile, sophomore Shea Van Klompenberg also finished among the top eight competitors as she took seventh place in the 800 meters (2:17.83)

Junior Jessica Pilling was 22nd overall in the weight throw (52-11.50), but also reached a national provisional distance in the event.

On the men's side, Bulldog senior Ryan Chute took sixth place in the mile run invite on Friday night and reached a national qualification time (4:08.25) in the process. He also came in 13th place in the men's 3,000 meter open run (8:43.44).

Connor LaRowe was ninth for the men's team in the 800 meter run open on Saturday (1:55.99).

Ferris State will next take part in the GVSU Tune-Up meet on Feb. 15 in Allendale.
