Ferris State Track & Field Opens Winter Campaign At Mike Lints Laker Open

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's track and field teams officially kicked off the winter campaign by taking part in the Mike Lints Laker Open hosted by Grand Valley State on Friday (Jan. 16) night at the Kelly Family Sports Center in Allendale.

The meet included athletes from a variety of schools across the region such as FSU, GVSU, Michigan State, Indiana Tech, Windsor, Northwood, Olivet, Cornerstone and more.

A limited number of Ferris State student-athletes competed in the initial competition with the women's squad scoring 10 points on the day.

Senior Breeann Ovokaitys paced the Bulldog women by coming in first overall in the 5,000 meters (17:38.52).

FSU's Ashley Hamilton took ninth overall in the women's 800 meters (2:22.67)

Ben Lentz took 12th place in the men's 800 meters (2:04.57) while Logan Hammer was 12th in the mile run (4:25.55) to lead the men's squad.

Ferris State returns to action at the Aquinas College Invitational on Jan. 23 in Grand Rapids.
