Ferris State Track & Field Posts 19 Top-10 Finishes At Final Tune-Up

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field teams posted a total of 19 top-10 finishes at the Grand Valley State Tune-Up meet held on Friday (Feb. 19) in Allendale.

The annual meet serves as a final tune-up for the GLIAC Indoor Championships, which will take place Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 27-28) in Tiffin, Ohio.

FSU's Damonta Madden won the men's 60 meters (6.95) and the 200 meters (21.80) while also notching an NCAA Division II national provisional time in the second race.

The Bulldogs' Damien Halverson earned runner-up honors in the men's 5,000 meters (15:54.27) with Zach McKenzie coming in seventh (16:33.47) and Chasen Benson finishing eighth (17:05.88).

Kyle Richardson came in sixth in the men's 3,000 meters (8:43.54).

In the throws, Ross Miller was fourth in the shot put (47-9) with Hayden Francisco eighth (45-10). Cody Stillwell took eighth place in the weight throw (55-0).

FSU also finished seventh in the 4x400-meter relay (3:37.74) with a pairing of Hunter Redman, Richardson, Eric Russell and Ben Lentz. A second grouping of John Alberts, Casey Neal, Jake Morey and Logan Hammer placed ninth (3:40.47).

Racheal McDonald placed second in the women's 5,000 meters (18:36.78) and Jessica Delaney was second in the 3,000 meters (10:29.45).

Sarah Utchel came in eighth overall in the 60-meter dash (8.15) and was also eighth in the 200 meters (26.52). Molly Emerick was 10th in the 800 meters (2:21.25).

FSU was also sixth in the women's 4x400-meter relay (4:17.73) with a tandem of Emerick, Jordan Lee, Emily Pedzinski and Shea Van Klompenberg. A second Bulldog quartet of Alyssa Cummings, Paige Koskinen, Emily Haynes and Delaney took fourth place (4:35.78).

Rachel Long placed eighth in the weight throw (50-10.25) and Maycee Robinson was ninth (49-11.25).
