Ferris State Concludes Action At 2017 GLIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams concluded action in the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships as final day competition took place in Allendale. 

The Bulldog men's squad concluded the annual three-day league meet with 19 points while the women's squad netted 21 points overall.

In Friday's final day of competition, the Bulldogs' Molly Emerick placed fourth overall in the women's 800 meters as she clocked 2:13.05 overall.

FSU's Kathryn Etelamaki came in eighth overall in the 5,000 meters with a showing of 17:53.65 in the race. Meanwhile, Kelly Babcock took 20th place in the same event after being timed in 19:02.16 on Friday.

The Bulldogs' Reina Troxel came in 11th overall in the discus (137-8) with Maycee Robinson placing 14th overall (123-5).

On the men's side, Trevor Holowaty placed sixth in the 5,000 meters (14:45.16) with Roan Fahey coming in 10th (15:31.46). FSU's Damien Halverson also competed and was 21st overall (16:13.60).

Ferris State's Casey Neal placed seventh in the 800 meters on Friday with a time of 4:00.96. Teammate Logan Hammer finished 10th at 4:06.97 after both reached the finals of the event.

The Bulldogs' 4x400-meter relay tandem of Nate Meyer, Hunter Redman, Lucas Harris and Chris Triffo placed 11th (3:30.25).

Ross Miller was 17th in the shot put (46-5.50) while Brett Allpow finished 14th in the discus (145-7) and Noah Minasola came in 22nd (125-4).

In previous action on Thursday at the GLIAC Championships, the Bulldogs were led by Racheal McDonald, who won the women's 10,000 meters in a time of 35:48.92 overall. Teammate Emily Haynes took fourth place in the race as she clocked 37:00.12. 

The Bulldog men also captured second and third place in the javelin as Hayden Francisco was the runner-up with a throw of 175-9 and Gunnar Meyer finished third at 172-8.

Selected Bulldog student-athletes will return to Allendale next Friday (May 12) for the Grand Valley State Second To Last Chance Meet.
