Big Weekend For Ferris State Track & Field With Several Personal-Bests At SVSU Jet's Pizza Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field squads had a big weekend of action as FSU competed in the Jet's Pizza Invitational hosted by Saginaw Valley State on Friday and Saturday (Jan. 26-27) in University Center, Mich.

Ferris State won the women's distance medley relay as the tandem of Sydney Dawes, Salix Sampson, Carissa Schurr and Kylie Hutchinson clocked 12:29.96 overall.

FSU's Kathryn Etelamaki placed fifth in the 3,000 meters (10:02.17) and topped her personal-best by 15 seconds to move into the top five on the Bulldogs' all-time list.

Schurr came in sixth overall in the women's 800 meters with a personal-best time (2:16.42) with Dawes taking 10th place (2:21.87) in the race.

The Bulldogs' Kelly Babcock took eighth place in the 5,000 meters (19:21.61) and FSU's Hannah Price was eighth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.68) and also set a personal-best.

On the men's side, FSU's Jon Cock tied for first place in the high jump with a performance of 2.03 meters.

In the men's weight throw, the Bulldogs' Cody Stilwell earned runner-up honors and again reached the NCAA Division II National Provisional Qualification mark with a top throw of 19.07 meters. Ross Miller placed fifth for FSU and also reached the national-qualifying standard at 17.67 meters with Brett Allpow ninth (17.06m) in the same event after notching his personal all-time best throw.

The Bulldogs took third place in the men's distance medley relay with the pairing of John Alberts, Lucas Harris, Dylan Hearns and Damien Halverson clocking 10:37.90 overall.

Ferris State's Stanley Williams came in sixth in the long jump (6.88 meters) while Trevor Holowaty captured 11th place in the men's 3,000 meters (8:35.36).

The Bulldogs will next be in action on Feb. 9-10 at the Grand Valley State Big Meet in Allendale.
