Ferris State Track Teams Take Part In Final Tune-Up For GLIAC Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field squads had their final preparations for the 2019 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships on Friday night (Feb. 15) as the Bulldogs competed in the Grand Valley State Tune-Up Meet at the Kelly Family Sports Center in Allendale.

FSU's Sarah Utchel was the runner-up in the 200 meters (25.95) and also placed fifth overall in the 60 meters (8.04). Meanwhile, Hannah Todd finished 11th in the 400 meters (1:02.36).

In the 800 meters, the Bulldogs' Jennifer Eaton came in fourth (2:18.42) with Taylor Thrush seventh (2:21.84).

Ferris State's Katie Etelamaki placed fifth in the mile run (5:05.29) with Thrush seventh (5:08.73) in the race. Etelamaki was also second in the 3,000 meters (10:23.85).

FSU's 4x400-meter relay team of Thrush, Madison Slater, Eaton and Todd finished third (4:12.14) with another tandem of Sheridan Brittney, Katelyn Hutchinson, Paige Deitering and Kylie Hutchinson coming in fifth (4:22.55) overall.

The Bulldogs' Amanda Esinger was fourth in the high jump (1.55m) while Brianna Copley placed third in the shot put (13.03m). Olivia Kraft finished seventh in the weight throw (15.65m).

On the men's side, the Bulldogs were led by senior Cody Stilwell, who won the weight throw (19.81m) while setting a NCAA Division II National Provisional qualification mark.

Ferris State's Ben Menapace took seventh place in the 200 meters (23.14) with Brett Robertson 11th (23.42). Menapace also came in third in the 400 meters (50.35).

Bulldog senior Damien Halverson finished ninth in the mile run (4:20.27) while Robertson took fifth place in the 60-meter hurdles (8.98).

FSU's Stanley Williams placed third in the long jump (6.75m).

The GLIAC Indoor Championships will be hosted by Saginaw Valley State and held Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 23-24, in University Center, Mich.
