Ferris State Track Teams Perform Well At Al Owens Classic In Allendale

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's track and field squads stayed close to home this weekend as the Bulldogs took part in the annual Al Owens Classic hosted by Grand Valley State University in Allendale.

The annual event features some of the top schools from across West Michigan and the region and is named after longtime meet official and track supporter Al Owens.

The Bulldogs' Brianna Copley came in third overall in the shot put (13.45 meters) while Amanda Eslinger tied for fifth overall in the high jump (1.55 meters). Copley was also sixth in the discus (40.00 meters) with Olivia Kraft eighth (39.44m) in the event.

FSU's Jennifer Eaton placed sixth in the 400 meters (2:15.68) while Katie Etelamaki took eighth place in the 1,500 meters (4:50.00).

Ferris State's tandem of Eaton, Carissa Schurr, Sydney Dawes and Sarah Utchel placed sixth in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 4:08.31 overall.

The Bulldogs' Brett Robertson placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (56.02) and was sixth overall in the 110-meter hurdles (15.30).

Aaron Jarema came in seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:16.13).

Ferris State will next take part in the prestigious Hillsdale "Gina" Relays set for April 25-27 in Hillsdale, Mich.
