Ferris State Track Teams Close Action At 2019 GLIAC Outdoor Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams wrapped up action in the 2019 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships on Friday (May 3) in Allendale.

The Bulldog women finished the meet with 27 points in taking eighth place overall while the men's squad wound up ninth with 12 points over the two days of action at the Grand Valley State Track and Field Stadium.

On the women's side, Brianna Copley took fourth place in the shot put (13.22m). Olivia Kraft was sixth in the discus (42.37m).

Ferris State's Carissa Schurr placed sixth overall in the women's 800 meters (2:15.60).

The Bulldogs' Kylie Hutchinson was seventh in the 1,500 meters (4:44.65). Kensington Garvey wound up 12th in the 5,000 meters (18:30.88).

FSU's Amanda Eslinger tied for ninth place in the high jump (1.55m) while Copley also came in 10th in the discus (37.73m) with teammate Emma Stephayn 11th (37.64m).

Meanwhile, the quartet of Hannah Todd, Jennifer Eaton, Schurr and Sarah Utchel came in eighth overall in the 4x400-meter relay (4:03.89).

FSU's Brett Robertson placed third in the 400-meter hurdles (53.96) while he also took seventh place in the men's 110-meter hurdles (15.64).

Senior Damien Halverson finished 11th in the men's 1,500 meters (3:59.85) and he also finished 16th in the 5,000 meters (15:29.18) as three Bulldogs placed among the top 20 in the event.

Ferris State was also ninth overall in the men's 4x400-meter relay as the tandem of Ben Menapace, Kolin Ghidoni, Zach Mckenzie and Robertson clocked 3:30.29 overall.

The Bulldogs are slated to compete in last chace action next week as competitors hit the track one final time to try and meet NCAA Division II National Qualifying standards.
