Ferris State Track Squads Wrap Up Day One At GLIAC Indoor Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field teams opened day one action on Saturday (Feb. 24) at the 2024 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Indoor Championships in University Center.

The Bulldogs tallied 11 points on the men's side and sit fifth overall after day one in the event hosted by Saginaw Valley State. Meanwhile, in the women's competition, FSU scored nine points on day one and is eighth overall.

Ferris State's Devin Dennison finished fourth overall in the weight throw (16.11m) for the Bulldog men's team. Cooper Sorsen placed sixth overall in the men's 5,000 meters (14:42.41).

FSU's Chase Carter notched the fourth-fastest time in the 60 meters (6.91) to qualify for Sunday's championship finals. He also did likewise in the 200 meters (21.97), clocking the fourth-best time to advance in the field.

Blaine Rogers qualified for the finals in the men's 60-meter hurdles, clocking the seventh-best preliminary round time with a 8.65 showing. Dean Topolski finished ninth in the 400 meters (50.73 for the men.

On the women's side, the Bulldogs' Rebecca Marvin took fourth place in the weight throw (14.09m).

The Bulldogs' Hanna Brock finished fifth in the 5,000 meters (17:38.08).

The Bulldog women's team also came in sixth in the distance medley relay (12:39.23) as did the men's team in their respective race (10:33.78).

The final day of competition takes place on Sunday (Feb. 25) in University Center.
