Bulldog Track Squads Combine For 30 Top-Eight Efforts At Hilltopper Relays

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's outdoor track and field squads had a successful weekend at the Hilltopper Relays hosted by Western Kentucky University over the weekend (March 29-30) in Bowling Green, Ky.

The Bulldogs competed in the event along with several schools including NCAA Division I host WKU and came away with a total of 30 top-eight meet finishes on the weekend, including a first-place performance and seven runner-up efforts.

FSU's Lacey Zimmerman took second place in the 100 meters (12.51) and was third in the 200 meters (25.90). Meanwhile, Abigail Winkle came in fourth in the 200 (26.04) with Angela Kotecki sixth (26.39) in the event. Ana Fortier was sixth in the 100 meters (12.79).

Winkle also earned a second-place finish in the 400 meters (59.75) with Makayla Roberts placing third (1:02.80) and Kayla Muth fourth (1:02.85). Nyah Tyron was the runner-up in the 400 hurdles.

In the field events, Claudia Wilkinson came in fourth in the high jump (5-3.25). FSU's Rebecca Marvin was second in the discus (105-10) and third in the shot put (35-10.5) along with fifth in the hammer throw (123-9). Eva Watkins placed sixth in the hammer (95-9) and seventh in the shot put (28-3.5) while Isabel Dziadzio came in fourth in the javelin (75-8).

The Bulldogs also took second place in the women's 4x100-meter relay (49.40).

On the men's end, Chase Carter finished third in the 100 meters (10.63) and Bryson Fronta was sixth in the 200 meters (22.16) along with seventh in the 100 meters (10.94). Dean Topolski placed seventh in the 200 (22.68) with Blaine Rogers ninth (23.39). Topolski also finished fifth in the 400 meters (50.42) with Tyrese Beedle seventh (53.46).

The Bulldog quartet of Rogers, Topolski, Fronta and Carter were first in the men's 4x100-meter relay (42.32).

FSU's Aaron Pierce earned runner-up honors in the long jump (21-10.25) while Hunter Richardson was fifth in the shot put (41-4.25). Devin Dennison took fifth in the discus (133-2) with Richardson eighth (113-5) in the event. Additionally, Dennison placed fourth in the hammer throw (157-2) and Noah Jones wound up second in the javelin (113-11).

The Bulldogs are next in action on April 6 at the Golden Grizzly Invite in Rochester, Mich.
