Ferris State Cross Country Teams Wrap Up Fall Campaign At NCAA Regional Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up the fall seasons on Saturday (Nov. 5) as the Bulldogs competed in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championships in Evansville, Ind.

In a highly-competitive field, the Bulldog men placed ninth overall with the women taking 11th place in the regional championships.

On the men's side, the Bulldogs totaled 243 points in narrowly finishing behind eighth-place Wisconsin-Parkside. A total of 31 squads competed in the field.

The Bulldog men were paced by Logan Hammer, who finished 15th overall in a time of 31:00.20 on the 10K course. He was followed by Trevor Holowaty in 40th place with a clocking of 31:48.91.

FSU's Kyle Richardson took 46th place (31:54.33), Damien Halverson was 67th (32:19.16) and Casey Neal came in 75th (32:24.05) among the Bulldogs' scorers in the race. Roah Fahey also competed and placed 108th (33:12.86) with Hunter Nivison coming in 176th (35:05.62).

In the women's competition, Ferris State compiled 298 points as FSU narrowly missed finishing in the top 10 overall of more than 30 competing schools.

FSU was led by Kathryn Etelamaki, who clocked 21:50.72 in placing 38th in the field. She was followed by Molly Emerick in 46th place (22:03.45) with Racheal Mcdonald coming in 53rd (22:12.34) and Kensington Garvey 75th (22:36.38) in the field.

The Bulldogs' Jordan Lee placed 88th (22:56.29) in the 6K women's race with Jessica Delaney 93rd (23:02.98) and Kelly Babcock 100th (23:07.52) in the field.

The event wrapped up the fall campaign for the Bulldogs.

This is the thirdconsecutive year that Southern Indiana and the Evansville Sports Corporation teamed up to host the NCAA II Midwest Region Championships at Angel Mounds. The NCAA II National Championships will also be at Angel Mounds in 2017.
