Two Bulldogs Earn All-GLIAC Honors As Ferris State Races In Conference Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country squads competed in the 2018 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships on Saturday (Nov. 3) at Calvin College's Gainey Athletic Complex in Grand Rapids.

The Bulldog women placed seventh overall in a highly-competitive field with 159 total points while the men's team took 10th place with 252 total points.

In the women's 6K race, the Bulldogs had an all-conference honoree in junior Katie Etelamaki, who placed ninth overall in a time of 21:50.2 in the race.

Freshman Paige Deitering came in 38th overall for the Bulldogs (23:25.3) with sophomore Jennifer Eaton 40th (23:29.3). Sophomore Carissa Schurr placed 50th (24:03.2), senior Jordan Lee finished 53rd (24:04.8), freshman Hannah Loucks was 54th (24:05.2) and junior Taylor Thrush wound up 58th (24:12.5) in leading FSU.

The Bulldog men also had an all-conference choice as senior Damien Halverson took 20th place overall (25:41.9) in leading FSU in the 8K event.

Sophomore Weston Rackley was next in line as he placed 54th (27:07.0) with sophomore Aaron Jarema taking 67th place (27:31.5). The Bulldogs' Gage Cleveland, a junior, placed 73rd (27:38.5) with sophomore Mark Jacobs 87th (28:04.7) and junior Ethan Israels 89th (28:06.8) as the highest finishers for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs will next compete in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championships on Nov. 17 in Hillsdale, Mich. The top qualifying teams from each regional will advance to the national championships on Dec. 1 in Slippery Rock, Pa.
