Ferris State Cross Country Steps Up Competition At MSU Spartan Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country squads stepped up the competition level on Friday (Sept. 16), competing in the 2022 Michigan State Spartan Invitational in East Lansing.

The Bulldogs women's squad totaled 309 points in finishing 12th overall in a large field while the men's team scored 436 and finished 16th overall. The meet included competitors from all levels of competition, including NCAA Division I schools such as Cincinnati, Michigan State, Kent State and Valparaiso among others.

Junior Sydney Kubiak led the Bulldog women's team on the 6K course, clocking in at 23:28.30 for the meet while placing 75th overall.

Meanwhile, Hanna Brock was only four spots behind in 79th place with a time of 23:30.06. Melanea Strauss finished 85th at 23:34.89 with Whitney Farrell coming in 99th (23:53.42). Danae Feldpausch wound up 104th (24:02.50) for FSU.

Sophomore Nathan Alford led the Bulldog men's squad in a time of 26:49.51 on the 8K men's course, which was good for 106th place overall. Senior Brandon Wirth was next in line in 118th place at 27:02.43.

FSU's Casey Bouman finished 132nd in a time of 27:27.20 with Brendan Cairney coming in 135th at 27:30.52. Sophomore Kevin Wilson was 148th (27:44.15) among the Bulldogs' top finishers.

The Bulldogs will next be in action on Friday, Sept. 30, at the Lansing CC Invitational along with competing in the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday, Oct. 1, in Louisville, Ky.
