'Dawgs Top Lees-McRae In 10 Innings Of Work

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University softball team pulled out a thrilling 9-8 victory over Lees-McRae (N.C.) in 10 innings during Tuesday's (March 6) action at the Florida Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla.

The Bulldogs tallied a pair of runs in the bottom of the 10th to finally win the game.  Morgan Kramerich and Chelsea Morris both registered RBI singles in the frame to help FSU claim the victory.

The two teams were tied at two runs after one inning and the contest was tied again at four runs apiece thru seven innings.  Each team scored a run in the eighth followed by two more in the ninth.  Lees-Mcrae plated a single run in the top of the 10th before the Bulldogs came thru to record the triumph.

Senior Makenzi Peterson led the Bulldogs with three hits in the game, including a triple, while Michelle Tononi added a pair of hits.  Stephanie Dusendang knocked in two runs for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs' Cara DeLange tossed the first five and one-third innings and gave up four runs on four hits with two strikeouts and two walks.  Emily Carlson pitched the final four and two-thirds innings of work while allowing four hits and four runs as well with three strikeouts and two walks.

On the opposite side, Hollie Crickenberger pitched the entire contest for Lees-McRae and surrendered nine runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and a walk.

Lees-McRae left 10 runners on base in the contest to only five for the Bulldogs and both teams finished with eight hits each.

The contest was the first of two games on the day for the Bulldogs, who were slated to face Seton Hill (Pa.) in the nightcap.
