Four Softball Players Named All-GLIAC

Big Rapids, Mich. - Four Ferris State University softball players were recognized this past weekend as All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) performers for the 2012 season.
FSU junior outfielder Morgan Kramerich joined designated player Amy Dunleavy as an All-GLIAC Second Team honoree while both senior third baseman Makenzi Peterson and senior first baseman Chelsea Morris received GLIAC Honorable Mention accolades.
The All-GLIAC squads were honored during action at the 2012 GLIAC Tournament held Friday to Sunday (April 27-29) in Findlay, Ohio.
The quartet led the Bulldogs on an impressive tournament run, which came to an end on Sunday morning as the Bulldogs fell just short in their quest for the 2012 GLIAC Tournament Championship by falling to Wayne State 3-2 in the title round at Findlay, Ohio.
Ferris State wrapped up the tournament with a 3-2 mark and both losses came to Wayne State by a single run.
Following the tournament run, the Bulldogs narrowly missed the NCAA Tournament field as the Warriors took the league's automatic berth when the official selections were made on Monday morning.
Besides beating the Bulldogs in the title round, WSU also beat FSU 7-6 in the winner's bracket finale on Saturday (April 28) to move into the championship round before the Bulldogs came back to top rival Grand Valley State 2-0 in an elimination game to reach Sunday's third and final day of competition.
FSU wrapped up the season with a 31-24 overall mark this campaign under interim head coach Dawn Thompson. The Bulldogs were the fifth seed heading into GLIAC Tournament, but finished the league event in the championship round despite taking on a higher-seeded opponent in all five games.
Ferris State closed the 2012 campaign by winning 15 of its last 21 contests, including 10 of its final 13 encounters.
The Bulldogs lose three senior starters from this season's squad in Peterson, Morris and outfielder Stephanie Dusendang.
