Bulldogs Win Two Games Sunday In Florida To Push Win Streak To Three-Straight

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's softball team ran its winning streak to three-straight by winning a pair of games on Sunday (March 10) at the Florida Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla.

The Bulldogs improved to 3-1 overall this season by beating Minnesota State-Moorhead 5-1 in the opening game of the day on Sunday afternoon before coming back to register a 2-1 triumph over Caldwell (N.J.) in the nightcap at Oren Brown Park.

Ferris State struck for four runs in the top half of the first inning versus Moorhead and added an insurance run in the sixth after the Dragons had trimmed the margin to three runs.

Junior pitcher Amy Dunleavy registered the victory in the circle for the Bulldogs as she gave up only a single run on four hits in seven innings pitched.  She tossed four strikeouts and walked two in earning the win.

Offensively, the Bulldogs received two RBI's from senior Liz Hamming along with one each by seniors Morgan Kramerich and Allison Weber.  FSU totaled nine hits in the contest off two different MSUM pitchers.  Hamming drove in both her runs on a single to left field in the top half of the initial inning.

The second game proved to be much tighter as Caldwell stepped in front and took a 1-0 lead in the top half of the third.  However, the Bulldogs gained the advantage by scoring twice in the bottom of the sixth inning to account for the final score.

In the sixth inning, Kramerich doubled to center field and scored on Dunleavy's RBI double soon after.  Webber singled two batters later to score Dunleavy from second base as FSU posted two runs on three hits in the frame.

Senior pitcher Dana Bowler notched her first victory of the year by giving up only one run on two hits in hurling the entire seven innings.  She had three strikeouts and walked two.

Ferris State posted a 6-2 edge in total hits.  Webber notched a team-high two hits in the game while Tononi, Kramerich, Dunleavey and Taylor Verbic all had a single hit apiece.

Ferris State is slated to play a total of 12 games over a seven-day period that runs thru Friday (March 15) in the Sunshine State with the non-conference contests to be held between the Osceola County Softball Complex, Fortune Road Athletic Complex, and Oren Brown Park.

The Bulldogs will square off against Minnesota State-Moorhead again on Monday (March 11) at 9 a.m. (ET) before facing St. Cloud State (Minn.) at 11 a.m. (ET).
