Big Rapids, Mich. - The annual Ferris State University Softball Golf Outing will be held Saturday, August 24, at FSU's Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich.
All Bulldog fans and friends are invited to take part in the four-person scramble, which serves as one of the program's fundraising events. The 18-hole outing will begin with registration at 9 a.m., and a 9:45 a.m. rules meeting followed by 18 holes of golf and dinner.
The entry fee, which is $85 for those registered in advance or $95 the day of the event, includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, a registration gift, dinner along with pin and proximity prizes.
Business and individual sponsorships are also available, including hole sponsorships ($125) or cart sponsorships ($400). Those interested also have the ability to build their own sponsorship packages. All proceeds from the outing support the softball program.
In addition, new this year will be an optional golf cart decorating contest with winners announced following the outing.

Ferris State's Katke Golf Course ranks among the finest University-owned golf courses in the United States. The course covers over 6,847 yards and is the highest point in Mecosta County, helping to define the scenic West Michigan landscape. Katke has won the Mecosta Country Peoples' Choice Awards for favorite golf range and favorite golf course in the area in recent years.
Designed by Robert Beard, Katke Golf Course opened for public play in 1974. The golf course has undergone some major renovations since 2004. Katke is a true test for any caliber of player. More information on Katke Golf Course can be found at www.katkegolf.com.
This past season, the Bulldogs compiled a 29-16 overall record in 2013 in the initial campaign under Foster. It marked the 10th consecutive year in which the Bulldogs had won at least 24 games in a season. FSU also finished as the GLIAC runner-up in regular-season play with a 20-6 league record.
The Bulldogs advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the eighth time in school history this past year and it represented the Bulldogs' fifth trip to the postseason since 2005.
