Ferris State Softball Concludes Annual Spring Break Trip To Florida

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University softball team officially wrapped up its annual spring break trip to Florida with a pair of evening games on Sunday (March 15) at The Spring Games held at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla.

The Bulldogs completed their 10-day trip to the Sunshine State by concluding their 18-game Florida slate with two outings against strong competition.

In the first game of the night, the Bulldogs battled Minnesota State-Moorhead for the second-straight game, but came out on the short end of a 4-3 decision. FSU trailed by two runs heading into its final at-bat and produced a single run before the Dragons held on for the win.

The Bulldogs then took on nationally 25th-ranked Augustana (S.D.) to close out the tournament in the nightcap, however fell short by a 9-1 score.

Complete statistical information from the two games will be available soon.

With their appearance in The Spring Games now complete, the Bulldogs will now return home and continue preparations for the start of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play. The Bulldogs, who have already played 27 games to date this year, next visit Davenport for a non-league doubleheader on March 26 in Grand Rapids.

Following the final non-league twinbill, FSU opens league play on the road with a two-game set at Walsh on March 28 with a visit to Malone on March 29 in Canton, Ohio. The Bulldogs' first home games are against Saginaw Valley State on Tuesday, March 31, at the FSU Softball Field.
