Ferris State Softball To Host Final Six Regular-Season Games This Weekend

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University softball team will play its final six regular-season games at home this weekend as the Bulldogs host three key Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) doubleheaders at the FSU Softball Field.

The Bulldogs will first host Walsh on Friday (April 22) in a twinbill starting at 3 p.m. (ET) for game one followed by game two at 5 p.m.

On Saturday (April 23), FSU will play host the Malone Pioneers in a double dip with opening pitch for the opening contest slated for 1 p.m. (ET) and game two taking place at 3 p.m.

Finally, on Sunday (April 24), the Bulldogs entertain Findlay in the final regular-season series beginning at 12 p.m. (ET) and 2 p.m. for games one and two, respectively.

The matchup on Saturday against Malone will serve as Senior Day as the Bulldogs honor seniors Alyssa Smith, Megan Vanderwal, Stacy Thompson and Michelle Tononi prior to the opening pitch.

Presently, Ferris State holds a 28-16 overall record to date and is 13-7 in the GLIAC standings after having won three-straight outings.

The Bulldogs currently sit fifth overall in the conference race, but only a pair of games out of second place heading into the last six regular-season tilts. The top eight teams at the end of the regular season will advance to the GLIAC Tournament set for April 29-May 1 at the Marathon Diamonds in Findlay, Ohio.

Along with the conference race, the Bulldogs are also presently ninth overall in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings and remain in the picture for a potential spot in the national tournament heading into this week's action.
