Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University softball squad kept its momentum going as the Bulldogs ran their winning streak to six-straight games with a sweep of the Tiffin Dragons on Monday (April 23) at the FSU Softball Field.

The twinbill was pushed up a day due to the weather forecast, but it did not affect the Bulldogs as FSU rolled to a 5-0 win in game one followed by a 3-0 victory in game two.

Ferris State put up 17 total hits on the day and limited TU to only five in the back-to-back shutout wins. With the sweep, FSU remained in contention for a potential spot in the GLIAC Tournament at the end of the year.

In the opener, the Bulldogs scored three runs in the second and two more in the third while limiting TU to only two total hits. FSU had 10 overall in the victory.

The Bulldogs got two hits apiece from both shortstop Kodi Ramirez and rightfielder Katie Scheuer, who doubled in the game. Designated player Lexee Summers also doubled with Scheuer driving in two runs in the triumph.

Sophomore Abby Highway garnered the pitching win as she tossed seven scoreless innings, giving up only the two hits with a strikeout in posting her eighth victory of the year.

In game two, Ferris State broke a scoreless tie with a big fifth inning when the Bulldogs recorded three runs on four hits en route to the victory. FSU totaled seven hits in the nightcap to three for the Dragons, who also had three errors in the field.

Scheuer had another strong game with a team-leading three hits in game two while second baseman Logan Fleming also had two hits and drove in two runs. FSU also received an RBI double from first baseman Sarah Meredith while Scheuer tripled.

Senior Sam Bates pitched the second game and threw seven scoreless innings with only three hits allowed. She also had four strikeouts in earning the win.

The Bulldogs have four league doubleheaders remaining on the slate this week and next visit Northwood on Wednesday (April 25) for a twinbill starting at 3:30 p.m. (ET) for game one in Midland.

After Wednesday's action, FSU then visits Ashland on Friday (April 27) and Wayne State on Saturday (April 28) before the final regular-season home action back in Big Rapids against Purdue Northwest on Sunday (April 29) to close the regular season.
