Big Rapids, Mich. - Three members of the Ferris State University softball squad have earned All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honors for the 2018 campaign as announced by the league office.

The GLIAC unveiled its 2018 season award recipients on Friday in conjunction with the conference softball tournament taking place at Sports Force Parks in Sandusky, Ohio. The honorees were determined by a vote from the league's member head coaches.

FSU senior catcher Emily Reed (Bay City/John Glenn) garnered All-GLIAC First Team recognition while the sophomore duo of pitcher Abby Highway (Kentwood/East Kentwood) and first baseman Sarah Meredith (Rogers City) both claimed honorable mention laurels.

In 46 regular-season games this year, Reed paced the Bulldogs with a .381 batting average. She tallied a squad-high 53 hits with a team-high tying 28 RBI's, 10 doubles and a home run in 139 total at-bats. She also posted a .475 slugging percentage and was the squad's every day catcher behind the plate.

Meanwhile, Highway pitched in 22 regular-season contests for FSU and posted a team-leading 10 wins with 11 complete game performances. She threw 120.1 innings and struck out 60 batters to go with a 3.08 earned run average. She averaged 3.49 strikeouts per seven innings pitched and allowed only 53 total earned runs in the regular-season.

Finally, Meredith hit .344 in the regular-season while batting 125 times in 45 games played. She belted a squad-best six home runs and compiled 43 hits with 11 doubles while notching 28 RBI's. She also drew 18 walks and totaled an impressive .576 slugging percentage.

Both Reed and Meredith garnered all-conference honors for the second time in their respective collegiate careers.

Together, the trio helped the Bulldogs win nine of their last 14 regular-season outings to reach the GLIAC Tournament this season under first-year FSU head coach Kristin Janes.
