Ferris State Softball Falls In Two Outings During Day Three Play Monday In Florida

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University softball squad hit the field for day three action on Monday (Feb. 11) at The Spring Games in Florida, but fell in a pair of matchups.

The Bulldogs suffered a 10-0 setback to St. Cloud State in five innings in the opener before dropping a 6-0 decision versus regional foe Lewis (Ill.) in afternoon action.

St. Cloud State got off to the early lead en route to the win over the Bulldogs in the opener.

In the nightcap, Lewis managed 10 hits to five for the Bulldogs as the Flyers scored once in the fourth before adding four runs in the fifth and one in the sixth.

Ferris State got a pair of hits from senior Logan Fleming in game two along with single hits from Kaitlyn Orme in addition to Kylie Winkels and Paige Kortz, who doubled in the game.

FSU's Connor Proctor hurled game two and allowed five runs on seven hits with four walks over four and one-third innings. Kaitlyn Nugent tossed two and two-thirds of an inning, giving up a single run on three hits with one walk.

Ferris State will have Tuesday off before returning to the field on Wednesday (March 13) for a pair of non-conference games. The Bulldogs will face Bemidji State at 9 a.m. (ET) and meet California (Pa.) at 11:15 a.m. (ET) in morning action in Florida.
