Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University softball team continued its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road stretch on Saturday (April 13), coming up short in a pair of league setbacks against the Purdue Northwest Pride at Dowling Park in Hammond, Ind.

The host Pride posted a 7-1 win in the opener before beating FSU 8-1 in the nightcap for the home sweep.

In the opener, Purdue Northwest limited the Bulldogs to four hits and scored four times in the third and three times in the fifth after FSU had taken the game-opening advantage with a single run in the first frame. The Pride compiled 10 hits in the game.

Ferris State got a pair of hits from right fielder Kylie Winkels, who doubled in the game. Second baseman Kodi Ramirez also had a double with senior shortstop Logan Fleming driving in the team's only run with a homer in her first at-bat of the afternoon.

Courtney Blackwell garnered the win for the Pride, which was her 10th of the year, by holding FSU to a single run on four hits with two walks and two K's.

Purdue Northwest picked up right where it left off in game two as the Pride scored five runs in the first and added singel runs in the second and third for an early seven-run edge. The Bulldogs got their only run in the fifth before the Pride answered with a run and kept FSU at bay the rest of the way. Purdue Northwest posted a 12-7 advantage in total hits.

Fleming and Kaitlyn Orme both doubled in the setback for FSU while third baseman Lexi Hongisto drove in the Bulldogs' only run. Junior Abby Highway threw all six innings for Ferris State and allowed eight runs on 12 hits with two K's and a walk.
