Bulldog Women Drop Second-Straight Road Tilt
Edinboro, Pa. – Host Edinboro jumped out to a nine-point
lead only five minutes into the game and went on to record a 90-75
non-conference win over the Ferris State women’s basketball
squad on Saturday (Nov. 21) evening at the McComb Fieldhouse in
Edinboro, Pa.
The Fighting Scots built a 16-7 advantage at the 15:13 mark of the
intial period and led by nine points (49-40) at halftime. FSU cut
the deficit to seven points twice in the final half, but could get
no closer in dropping its second-straight road contest to open the
season.
The game represented the first-ever series’ meeting between
the two schools.
Edinboro improved to 2-0 this season behind a 26-point performance
from guard Samantha Reimer. She also dished out six assists and was
one of four EU players to reach double-figure scoring as
Renee’ Brown chipped in 14 points, Kelcie Hellmer scored 12
points and Kelsey Conklin added 11 points.
Turnovers severely hampered the Bulldogs as FSU finished with 32
miscues in the game, leading to Edinboro’s 33-15 edge in
points off turnovers. The Fighting Scots also grabbed 16 offensive
rebounds as they held an 11-2 margin in second chance scoring.
All five Bulldog starters finished the game in double-figure
scoring. Junior forward Amy Joostberns tallied 16
points, junior forward Tiara Adams netted 13
points, sophomore guard Tricia Principe added 11
points while both junior guard Becci Houdek and
sophomore guard Kelsey DeNoyelles totaled 10
points apiece. Adams narrowly missed a double-double effort with a
game-high nine rebounds.
The Bulldogs shot the ball well from the floor as FSU finished at
53.5% (23-43) shooting for the night. FSU was four-of-six (66.7%)
beyond the three-point line and 25-of-31 (80.6%) at the free throw
stripe.
Edinboro made 31-of-75 (41.3%) field goal tries and nine-of-21
(42.9%) long range attempts in addition to a 19-of-22 (86.4%)
showing at the charity line.
Ferris State returns home to host regional opponent Lewis (Ill.) in
its home opener on Tuesday, Nov. 24, with the non-league tipoff set
for 6 p.m. (EST) inside FSU’s Jim Wink Arena at Big Rapids,
Mich. Fans can receive free admission for the game in exchange for
a monetary donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation at the door.
Bulldog Bites: Ferris went nine deep in
the game and the Fighting Scots had 12 players see action

schools with the setback, including a 24-5 mark under head coach

sixth Bulldog player to reach double-digits with nine points in the
