Ferris Earns Hard-Fought GLIAC Road Victory

Tiffin, Ohio -  The Ferris State University women's basketball picked up a hard-fought Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road win over the Tiffin Dragons on Thursday (Jan. 14) evening by a 75-66 score at the Gillmor Center in Tiffin, Ohio.

Sophomore guard Tricia Principe tallied a career-high 23 points and junior forward Tiara Adams added a double-double effort with 19 points and 12 boards in the Bulldog victory.

FSU held a narrow 41-39 halftime edge and then outscored TU 34-27 over the final 20 minutes to account for the final margin.

The Bulldogs shot a blistering 54.2% (26-48) from the floor in the game and held a commanding 44-29 rebounding edge to help offset 23 turnovers.

Ferris also limited the Dragons to only 34.2% (25-73) shooting for the contest. Tiffin did connect on 11-of-31 (35.5%) three-point field goal tries, but made only three in the final 20 minutes after hitting eight three's in the opening frame.

While Principe and Adams were the only Bulldog players to reach double-digit scoring, the Bulldogs did receive six assists from sophomore guard Kelsey DeNoyelles as part of a 19-assist effort on the night.  FSU also finished with 12 steals.

The Dragons were paced by Mandy Jaeb's game-high 28 points on 10-of-20 shooting.  She was joined in double-figures by Stephanie Kelly with 16 points.

FSU held a significant advantage at the free throw line where the Bulldogs made 19-of-28 (67.9%) free throws compared to only five-of-six (83.3%) for Tiffin.  The Dragons turned the ball over 18 times in the contest.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 5-9 overall and 4-5 in conference play while Tiffin dropped to 5-9 overall and 2-7 in league action.

Ferris continues its conference road trip to Ohio by visiting Ashland on Saturday (Jan. 16) for a 1 p.m. (EST) league game at Kates Gymnasium in Ashland, Ohio.
