Big Rapids, Mich. - A pair of Ferris State University women's basketball players have received postseason recognition from the Grand Rapids Press.

Senior forward Tiara Adams (Lansing/Waverly) and junior guard Tricia Principe (Kalamazoo/Mattawan) both were chosen as members of the Press' honorable mention all-area team for the 2010-11 season.

The annual Grand Rapids Press list recognizes the top players and coaches in one of the nation's premier areas for small college basketball. The Press coverage area includes some of the finest small college programs from the NCAA Division II, III and NAIA levels including Ferris State, Calvin, Hope, Grand Valley State, Aquinas, Davenport and Cornerstone among others.

The Grand Rapids Press chose three five-member teams (first, second, third) along with eight honorable mention honorees.  The teams were assembled by a panel of writers who put together the 2010-11 All-Area Small Colleges Basketball Teams.

The 5-9 Adams paced the Bulldogs in both scoring (13.2 ppg.) and rebounding (6.7 rpg.) in her final collegiate campaign.  She also ranked among the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's (GLIAC) leaders in several categories, including eighth in field goal percentage (.508).

Meanwhile, Principe was second on the team in both scoring (12.5 ppg.) and rebounding (4.3 rpg.).  She led the conference in free throw percentage (.926) for the second-straight year and would have finished first in the country for the second year in a row, but did not have quite enough attempts to qualify for the final national statistical rankings.  Principe was third in the GLIAC in both three-point percentage (.455) and three-point makes (2.2 pg.).

The Bulldog women's basketball squad wrapped up the 2010-11 campaign with a 13-13 overall record under 13th-year head coach Tracey Dorow.  This year marked the 14th time in the last 15 seasons the Bulldogs have registered double-digit wins in a campaign.
