Big Rapids, Mich. - For the third consecutive year, Ferris State University senior guard Sarah DeShone (Elkhart, Ind./Jimtown) has been named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Honorable Mention All-America Team.

With her selection, DeShone becomes the first three-time All-American in program history as no other former FSU women's basketball standout has ever received All-America accolades more than once.

The All-America was selected by a vote of the selection committee. The committee is composed of one representative from each of the eight geographical regions and a chairperson.

This past season also marked the third consecutive year in which DeShone also claimed first team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) status.  She previously received WBCA Honorable Mention All-America honors in both 2011-12 and 2012-13 after being named to both the All-GLIAC and all-region teams.

Founded in 1981, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association promotes women's basketball by unifying coaches at all levels to develop a reputable identity for the sport and to foster and promote the development of the game as a sport for women and girls. DeShone joined former Bulldog players Lucy DeMartin and Tianna Kirkland along with Rachel Folcik and Erin Miller as the only players in the program's history to attain any type of All-America accolades when she received honorable mention accolades for the first time two years ago. DeMartin was honored as a Division II Women's Basketball Bulletin Honorable Mention selection in 2003-04 while Kirkland was a Division II Women's Basketball Bulletin Third Team All-America pick during the 2000-01 campaign. Both Miller and DeMartin were among the Division II Kodak/WBCA All-America Honorable Mention nominees in 2003-04. Folcik was chosen to the WBCA Honorable Mention All-American team in 2006-07.

A four-year letterwinner and two-time All-American to date, DeShone wrapped up her career ranked among the school's top all-time leaders in a number of statistical categories including second in three-point percentage (.397), third in made three's (166), sixth in free throws made (269), sixth in assists (379), eighth in scoring (1,419) and 11th in steals (154).

This season, DeShone ranked third among the conference's scoring leaders (17.8 ppg.), third in assists (4.7 pg.) and was seventh in three-point percentage (.410) along with seventh in three-pointers made (2.1 pg.) and sixth in steals (1.8 pg.). She also led the conference and ranked in the top 10 nationally in free throw percentage (.916).

As a junior in 2012-13, DeShone started all 26 games and reached double-figure scoring 24 times while attaining WBCA All-America Honorable Mention laurels for the second-straight year along with All-GLIAC First Team kudos.

Previously, as a sophomore in 2011-12, DeShone averaged 14.1 points and 4.6 assists per contest in leading the Bulldogs to a 23-7 overall mark and the league's North Division Championship while reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

DeShone's play this past season as a senior helped the Bulldogs win four of their final five contests under second-year head coach Colleen Lamoreaux-Tate.

On this year's WBCA All-America team, DeShone was one of only three players from a GLIAC-member school to claim All-America accolades along with Hillsdale's Megan Fogt and Shareta Brown of Wayne State.
