Ferris State's Rachel McInerney Named To All-GLIAC Women's Basketball Team

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University sophomore center Rachel McInerney (Saginaw/Nouvel) has received All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) accolades for the 2015-16 campaign as announced by the league office on Friday night.

The Bulldog second-year standout was named to the All-GLIAC Second Team for her performance this past year in voting by the league's member head coaches. In addition, she also claimed GLIAC All-Defensive Team accolades.

This season, under first-year head coach Kendra Faustin, McInerney posted 24 double-figure scoring performances and produced 20 points or more in five different contests. She tallied a personal career-high 32 points to go with 12 rebounds in FSU's 71-56 home win over Lake Superior State at Jim Wink Arena.

As a sophomore, McInerney started all 28 Bulldog contests and averaged a team-leading 15 points along with seven rebounds per game for FSU. She grabbed 10 rebounds or more in seven outings and shot 50% from the floor along with 73% at the free throw stripe.

Defensively, McInerney also tallied a team-high 48 blocked shots and came up with 17 steals on the year.

The bulk of this year's squad will be eligible to return next year under Faustin's direction as the Bulldogs had a total of nine freshmen or sophomores on their roster this past campaign, including McInerney.

A total of 10 individuals were named to both the All-GLIAC first and second teams in voting conducted by the league's 16 member head coaches while 10 others claimed all-defensive team kudos.
