Ferris State Drops Final Game Of 2016 Portion Of Campaign

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad wrapped up the first half of the 2016-17 campaign with a 67-54 setback to Tiffin University on Monday (Dec. 19) at FSU's Jim Wink Arena in Big Rapids.

The visiting Dragons outscored FSU 27-16 in the opening frame and then posted a 18-12 scoring margin over the fourth frame to account for the final margin.

With the win, Tiffin improved to 3-6 overall and 2-4 in the GLIAC while FSU dropped to 2-9 overall and 2-4 in league play.

FSU was led by junior guard Leah Humes with 18 points. Junior forward Rachel McInerney added 11 points and sophomore guard Alexis Bush added 10 points in the setback.

Tiffin was paced by Ali Schirmer, who tallied a game-high 20 points off the bench. Kristen Massey added 13 points, Deidre McKay chipped in 12 points and Bre Nauman scored 11 points in the TU victory.

Ferris State will be back in action on Dec. 30 when FSU visits Salem International for a non-league tilt. The next league action for FSU is on Jan. 5 when the Bulldogs visit Lake Erie.
