Allendale, Mich. - The Ferris State university women's basketball team suffered a road setback to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) rival Grand Valley State by the final line of 85-38 on Monday (Jan. 30) at GVSU's Fieldhouse Arena.
Ferris State sophomore guard Alexis Bush finished with a team-best 10 points while junior forward Rachel McInerney added nine points and seven rebounds.
The Bulldogs struggled from the field, shooting 28.3 percent for the night and 18.2 percent for the evening from beyond the arc, hitting two three's on 11 tries. Bush hit Ferris State's only two three-pointers for the evening.
A solid first quarter had the Bulldogs within five points, shooting 45.5 percent which was the highest of any quarter, but shot 23.5 percent in the second frame as the Lakers took a 20-point lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Lakers shot 60 percent in the second quarter and 54.3 percent for the game, including an 11-of-26 mark from three-point land.
In the second half, the Bulldogs couldn't shorten the deficit, shooting 30.8 percent, as the Lakers outscored them 19-11. The Bulldogs shot 16.7 percent in the final frame where the Lakers thrived, shooting 66.7 percent.
Taylor Parmley finished with a game-high 19 points for GVSU, with Janae Langs adding 13.
GVSU and FSU each had 35 rebounds for the night, with Ferris State winning on the offensive glass by a margin of 9-4 over Grand Valley.
Four Bulldogs finished with two assists apiece while the Lakers were led by Piper Tucker's seven assists which were a game-high. Tucker also chipped in a game-high three blocks, while three Bulldogs each tallied one.
Ferris State returns home for action against Saginaw Valley State on Thursday, Feb. 2, at 6 p.m. (ET) inside Wink Arena.
