Ferris State Standout Rachel McInerney Earns All-GLIAC First Team Honors

Big Rapids, Mich. - Junior center Rachel McInerney (Saginaw/Nouvel) of the Ferris State University women's basketball squad has achieved All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) First Team recognition as announced Friday evening by the league office.

McInerney led the Bulldogs this past year in virtually every statistical category and ranked among the league leaders in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots in her junior season.

The standout from Saginaw was one of 10 players from the 15 league member institutions named to the All-GLIAC First Team in voting conducted by the conference's member head coaches.

McInerney started all 27 games in the 2016-17 season and tallied 15.6 points along with 8.3 rebounds per contest while shooting 50.5% from the floor and 80.6% at the free throw stripe.

Overall, she had 23 double-figure scoring games this year and scored more than 20 points in a game seven this this year, including a season-high 33 points in FSU's narrow 94-83 season-opening setback against nationally-ranked Bellarmine (Ky.) in the Bulldog Classic.

Prior to this year, McInerney was named to the GLIAC Preseason North Division First Team. She garnered second-team all-conference recognition a year ago while averaging a team-leading 15 poitns and seven rebounds per game in her sophomore season.

McInerney becomes the first Bulldog women's basketball player to achieve first-team All-GLIAC honors since former standout Sarah DeShone was a three-time first team pick for the Bulldogs from 2012-14.
