Ferris State Rolls Over Olivet In School Day Contest At Jim Wink Arena

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State women's basketball squad rolled to an impressive 103-49 victory over visiting Olivet College in their 2017-18 home opener before a large crowd of school children on Tuesday (Nov. 14) at FSU's Jim Wink Arena.

The Bulldogs bolted in front early and never trailed while moving to 3-0 on the year. It marked the second consecutive 100-point game for head coach Kendra Faustin's squad.

The contest took place during the school day with local elementary and middle school children from Big Rapids Public Schools in attendance.

With the loud crowd of students behind cheering them on, FSU took control early and set the tone by outscoring the Comets 36-9 in the opening quarter of action. Ferris State took a 54-24 halftime lead and never trailed in the decisive victory.

Freshman guard Adrienne Anderson led the Bulldogs with 15 points in the game while adding nine rebounds, there assists and two steals. Senior forward Rachel McInerney and sophomore foward Lilly George each had 12 points apiece in the victory.

On the glass, sophomore center Brayene Benner compiled a game-high 13 rebounds for FSU, which also got six assists and six steals from sophomore guard Emilee Kott.

The Bulldogs shot 53.7% from the floor and made seven-of-29 (24.1%) three's along with eight-of-17 (47.1%) free throws.

Defensively, FSU also forced 37 turnovers and came away with 29 steals along with four blocked shots. FSU outscored Olivet 44-15 in points off miscues and 51-11 on the break as a result of the defensive performance.

Olivet, meanwhile, was limited to a 30.2% shooting figure and went eight-of-23 (34.8%) from long range in addition to nine-of-15 (60%) at the line.

Ferris State owned a dominating 50-31 edge on the boards and pulled down 23 offensive caroms to 12 for the visitors. That led to a 30-13 margin in second chance production.

The Bulldogs also received 64 points from their bench to 29 for Olivet and held a decisive 68-12 advantage in points scored inside the paint.

Olivet was led by Shannon Dingman, who totaled 11 points. Sydnee Dennis added nine points in the losing effort.

Ferris State continues its six-game homestand on Sunday (Nov. 19) as the Bulldogs host Hillsdale in regional action starting at 5 p.m. (ET) inside Wink Arena.
